In my last blog, I talked about the difficulties business owners have keeping the appearance of the exterior of their buildings freshly painted and appealing to consumers.

As a business owner, you realize how important the image of your business is, especially if your clients come to you. You would always like the front of your building to be appealing to clients, because if it is not nicely kept up many clients will just drive by your business no matter how good you are.  It is easy to keep your business looking nice if you own the building, but many times you are at the mercy of your landlord.  This can be very disturbing, especially if you are very conscientious about the appearance of your business.

The owners of Certified Automotive wanted to have the exterior of their building painted because they realized that they needed a face lift and that an exterior paint job was the first step. 

I met with the owners of Certified Automotive and we discussed options for painting and also resurfacing their parking lot.  The recommendation I made to the owners was to wait until the painting was done before resurfacing the parking lot, as the parking lot would become stained during the pressure cleaning process (as the chalk from the old paint job would wash down onto the parking lot and stain any new black top).

We then discussed replacing the awning on the front of the building.  I recommended that we paint the vinyl awning the same color as the red trim on the gutters and downspouts so that the paint would hold up very well.  We would not only paint the exterior side of the awnings, but the underneath side as well. There was no reason to replace the awning as the vinyl was in great shape, and that a fresh coat of paint would work out well for them and save them a lot of money. 

I also let them know what the schedule would be for the work - that it would happen on weekends so we would not disturb their business and that all they had to do is move the cars each Friday for us and then move them back on Monday. 

In the pictures you can see the big difference from before we started, from painting the gutters, downspouts and awning red, to painting the exterior walls gray, and then painting the overhead garage doors white.  We used Sherwin Williams Duration on the walls and garage doors and used Glidden Dulux Accents on the awning, gutters and downspouts.

The weekend we did the exterior painting and finishing touches the owners were out of town.  They stopped by the building that evening and were overwhelmed as to the outcome of their building. The owner Rick told me it turned out better than he had ever imagined.
