3 Tips for Painting Your Southwest Florida Home

If you have decided that the interior or exterior of your Southwest Florida home is due for a new paint job, then you have come to the right place. Updating the paint of your home can go a long way in increasing your property’s overall appeal, transforming one room at a time.

Below are three tips for successfully painting the interior or exterior of your home:

Tip #1: Hire a Professional

When painting a home, there are a lot of things to take into consideration. For example, the way you prep the surface, the type of paint that you use, the surface you are painting, etc. all come into play. The last thing you want to do is paint your home and then find out that you used the wrong type of paint, and the paint on your door starts to peel! When hiring a painter, make sure you ask the right questions and contact references to ensure you are making a smart hiring decision.

Tip #2: Utilize Paint Samples

Choosing the perfect paint color is now harder than ever due to the astounding level of variety we have access to, with different shades of just about every color. Fortunately, many paint companies now have very small samples of the paint that can be purchased for a few dollars and applied to the walls in order to get a better feel for the actual color once the paint dries.

Tip #3: Consider the Lighting

When using paint samples, make sure you take into consideration the lighting. The paint may appear one way in a room with fluorescent lighting and a completely different shade when viewed under a soft light. Therefore, make sure you view the samples in the proper lighting conditions to ensure that you are getting the appeal that you desire.
