When homeowners or contractors purchase their paint from various paint companies, like Sherwin Williams, Glidden, PPG, Benjamin Moore or Home Depot, one of the best things that they do is very simple: they put a label on the paint can with the formula for the paint.
This can come in extremely handy should you need more paint for touch up in the future. This is why I encourage homeowners to always keep their paint cans even if the paint goes bad. At Ron's Painting we take it one step further. We put our label on the can along with the label from the paint manufacturer to identify the color, but also tell them where that paint color was used. For example, in the case of the label shown below, the paint was used on exterior stucco.
When we do interior painting, we also leave all leftover paint, and each can has a label attached letting the homeowner know exactly where each color was used, whether it was used on ceilings, walls or trim, and exactly what rooms it was used in. We also have a file at the local Sherwin Williams where I buy most of my paint. There they have a file under Ron's Painting with all of the different paint colors that were used on our jobs.
This is how we take that extra step for our clients.
