Does your driveway look like the driveway in this picture? Is the paint peeling off? Are you wondering how can this be fixed? Or are you asking yourself, “What did I do wrong?”

Not only are these all very good questions, but there is a solution to your problem!
Many times homeowners either paint their driveways themselves or they hire a contractor to perform the task for them; however, the person they hire is not knowledgeable about the proper procedures to paint these types of surfaces.
What you see in the picture can happen if the surface is not properly prepared before applying the paint. When the correct preparation steps are not taken, the paint will easily peel off, especially when coming into contact with hot tires.
When painting bare concrete driveways, garage floors, or pool decks, the concrete must be pressure cleaned and acid washed with muriatic acid, then rinsed thoroughly. Then, the surface must dry for a minimum of four days before paint or stain can be applied.
If your driveway or pool deck looks like the one in the picture, the only way to fix it is to have it sandblasted back down to the bare concrete. Then, you will need to have it acid washed and pressure cleaned and allow to dry. After the surface is completely dried, you will need to have two coats of a xylene-based stain applied, thinning the first coat.
On the other hand, if your garage floor looks the concrete in the picture, then I recommend pressure cleaning the surface and putting down linoleum floor tiles since it is very difficult to sandblast a garage floor.
