How to Fill Holes in Your Southwest Florida Home
Many homeowners in Southwest Florida have hurricane panels on their homes, and as time goes on they want to upgrade their hurricane shutters to a more advanced system like roll downs, have Kevlar screens installed or impact resistant windows installed.
It’s also wise to cover any unsightly holes so that they are not visible and hurt your home’s curb appeal or cause water intrusion into your home which can cause mold issues.
But before they have the new shutters installed, the old screws in the stucco must be removed – which results in holes that need to be filled.
As you can see in the pictures below, we used a quick dry concrete patch, filled the holes with concrete and allowed it to set up slightly (picture 1).

We then took a sponge and wiped off the excess so just the hole itself is filled with the concrete and there is not a lot of excess concrete left (picture 2). After allowing the concrete to cure overnight, we then spot primed each concrete patch and allowed the primer to dry.

Finally, we applied paint over the patches - and as you can see, the patches blended right into the existing concrete (pictures 3 and 4).

It is always wise to upgrade your hurricane panels when improved technology becomes available. It’s also wise to cover any unsightly holes so that they are not visible and hurt your home’s curb appeal. Before you try this yourself, you should consult with a professional, who can mix the concrete, prime, and paint the holes properly and save you time, money and effort.
